Fort Myers, Florida

Our residential facility is one of the leading drug treatment centers in Florida, located in the Florida Gulf Coast city of Fort Myers. Our residential site is on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, a short drive from downtown Fort Myers. The site offers lush, peaceful waterfront surroundings where a patient can enjoy a quiet sunset in a setting with privacy. It’s also conveniently close to Fort Myers’ restaurants, theaters and art galleries, which serve as frequent destinations for weekend activities. The area’s pleasant weather, opportunities for outdoor activities and scenic beauty at our detox center in Florida make for a pleasant recovery environment for the patient and their family.

About our facility

We provide two Florida addiction treatment centers and mental health facilities in Florida. Our Fort Myers location is one of our two drug rehab centers in Florida. This waterfront residential center opened in November 2014. It’s fully accredited by the Joint Commission, the largest and oldest health care accreditation and standards-setting organization in the U.S. The Joint Commission has accredited and certified nearly 21,000 health care programs in the U.S. since 1951.

The facility has separate sleeping areas for male and female patients. Patients sleep two to a room; each room has its own private bath facility. It’s a secure, gated location, supervised 24/7. Crisis intervention is available 24 hours a day as well, ensuring our clients have total privacy and safety as they recover. Our patients help maintain their rooms and treatment areas.

For leisure, patients have both TV and game time, as well as access to a computer lab and a library with a fireplace. Smoking is allowed, but only in designated areas at designated times. A professional chef provides our clients with three meals a day – patients can make requests for their own particular dietary needs.

Treatment Programs

We have treatment programs for patients with:

  • Substance abuse disorders
  • Mental health disorders
  • Dual diagnosis – A patient who has a mental disorder as well as a substance abuse disorder

For patients in need of addiction treatment, we offer medical detox services to help patients through the often unpleasant side effects harmful chemicals have when they leave the body.

At both of our drug rehab centers in Florida patients are treated with a wide variety of evidence-based treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy in individual, group and family settings. Our therapists tailor treatment programs to fit the unique needs of each patient to ensure that they get the treatment they need for the best chance at a lasting recovery.

We also offer effective alternative therapies such as biofeedback, yoga, meditation and equine therapy. An exercise “boot camp” is also available on site. The grassy areas surrounding our residences offer a good area to walk in, and we also have a running club. When used in conjunction with clinical treatments, these alternative therapies provide holistic treatment for patients’ minds, bodies and souls.

Levels of care

Patients receive levels of care based on their individual needs.

  • Residential (RTC) care allows more freedom while still keeping patients focused on their recovery in the residence.
  • Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) allows patients to receive beneficial therapy and treatment in a controlled environment whiling living off-facility.
  • Patients in the intensive outpatient program (IOP) attend classes and therapy for part of the week, allowing extra time for other activities such as attending vocational classes, furthering their education or working offsite.
  • We also offer fully outpatient (OP)

In our IOP and OP levels of care, we also offer telehealth called eTherapy, a convenient, online meeting between patient and therapist with no travel required.

Most patients progress through these levels of care as they move through recovery.

Additional activities

12-step meetings and events are offered both at our residential facility and off-site daily. We also offer SMART Recovery and National Alliance on Mental Illness groups as well. Sovereign knows the important role family plays in recovery, and we offer a two-hour family group time on Sunday mornings.

Patients have educational opportunities as well. Sovereign’s drug treatment centers in Florida offers GED classes as well as useful courses on developing skills such as parenting, relapse prevention and alcohol education. We make a priority to give patients the opportunities to better themselves so that they can rejoin society a more productive, capable and healthy individual.
