A sunny and peaceful getaway
A corner of the Mojave Desert has served as a place of refuge. The ancestors of today’s Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians lived as hunter-gatherers in this oasis for centuries. Starting in the early 20th century, the Palm Springs area became a famous retreat for the rich and famous. Drawn to the scenic mountains, the sunny weather and the tranquility of the desert, Frank Sinatra, Marlene Dietrich and Bob Hope are among the many people who have called this area home. It is a common place of retirement and also a popular place for tourists and family vacations. Hiking trails, snowcapped San Jacinto mountains, natural hot springs and Joshua Tree National Park are just a few of the natural beautiful destinations in the Palm Desert area.
Palm Desert boasts of sunny skies nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains. The city started as one of Palm Springs’ satellite towns and has grown into an upscale desert resort community. Surrounded by golf courses and the scenery of the San Jacinto Mountains, the community was once one of California’s fastest-growing towns and is still a popular destination for travelers from California and elsewhere.
