Sovereign Health of Chandler Treatment Programs

Sovereign Health of Chandler’s trauma facility is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) as a behavioral health residential facility and outpatient treatment center for women who have mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Women who attend Sovereign Health of Chandler’s facility can receive different levels of care, depending on the severity of their symptoms, presenting condition(s) and other related factors.

Our Chandler facility’s programs for mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders are offered at different levels of care, depending on each woman’s particular needs. The following levels of care are provided for women with mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, also referred to as dual diagnosis:

  • Residential Treatment Center (RTC) — patients receive more intensive and comprehensive treatment programs from trained clinical staff while they reside in the comfort of a home-like setting.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) — patients attend groups, classes and receive treatment during the day while they live in sober living residences.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — patients attend groups and classes for only part of the week, which allows them to attend vocational programs, obtain employment or further their education while they are in treatment.

Residences

Female patients who receive residential treatment at our Chandler facility reside in homes located in private cul-de-sacs that include landscaped outdoor areas, a backyard, laundry and other amenities during their stay. Our sober living residences house patients who are attending the Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs. The sober living apartments are located in a gated community that has a fitness center and pool.

Women are offered a number of residential accommodations and amenities during their stay in treatment, including grassy areas around the facility to walk and flat-screen TVs and cable in each of the residences, with limited TV and game time available during downtime. Female patients can also make reasonable food requests for special dietary needs, receive assistance from House Managers with food preparation and receive menus created by a nutritionist.

Diagnostic assessments

All female patients begin their treatment at Sovereign Health of Chandler’s Serenity House, during which they will undergo comprehensive diagnostic assessments and learn self-calming techniques to prepare them for transitioning to the treatment phase of the program.

Comprehensive medical, substance abuse, psychosocial and biopsychosocial assessments are provided while female patients are staying at the Serenity House to diagnose the presenting conditions(s) and determine their placement in the Mental Health, Substance Abuse or Dual Diagnosis treatment programs.

Women who are diagnosed with both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition are considered to have a co-occurring disorder, also referred to as dual diagnosis. Patients who have co-occurring disorders often require more intensive treatment and care to help them avoid relapse and learn more effective coping mechanisms to deal with stress.

The dual diagnosis treatment program provides treatment to patients who have co-occurring mental illnesses and substance use disorders; having both conditions can require more intensive treatment and care to help patients overcome their issues and begin their recovery.
