On Sunday, July 26 Tonmoy Sharma, M.D., Ph.D., the CEO of the Sovereign Health Group and Meghan Marcum, Psy.D., the director of Clinical Excellence at Sovereign were featured on The Body Politic broadcast on KABC Radio 790 in Los Angeles. Hosted by Susanne Marcus Fletcher, the weekly show (8 to 9 p.m. PST) has recently been conducting a series on addiction. The topic for this broadcast was post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its relationship with addiction.

The discussion started by defining the disorder, its signs and symptoms and covered effective treatment modalities and how Sovereign Health integrates care for patients who are dealing with both PTSD and substance use disorders. Dr. Sharma outlined the real national need for mental health service providers to offer a broader range of services capable of diagnosing and treating every aspect of a patient’s mental health.

Today, most treatment providers only offer services to patients with primary diagnoses of either substance use disorders or mental health disorders. Sovereign Health’s mission is to provide patients with treatment for co-occurring conditions. The broadcast will be available for three months at:
