Sovereign Health’s Chief Clinical Officer, Anthony J. Mele, Psy.D., Discusses Depression in “Ask the Expert” Radio Interview

San Clemente, Calif. — Nov. 23, 2016 — Sovereign Health, a leading national licensed provider of behavioral health treatment services, announces a new radio interview by Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), Anthony J. Mele, Psy.D. In this new Ask the Expert interview, broadcast on Mix 100.5 in California’s Coachella Valley, Dr. Mele discusses clinical depression and how best to combat depression, especially during the holidays. Listen to the full interview here.

As Dr. Mele notes in the interview, “For some, the holiday blues becomes an increase or an exacerbation of a preexisting depression. For others, though, what we’re really talking about are folks who have a social expectation of what the holidays should be and in reality what they are. Media still promotes the fantasy of what the holidays should be like, but that’s not the case for a lot of folks.”

Dr. Mele goes on to discuss what individuals can do to address the holiday blues. “If I find myself alone during the holidays, my brain may tell me a lot of negative things about myself. If I can train my brain to reinterpret the experience of being alone, then I can take steps towards getting out of a depression. If you can imagine what your holiday will be like and if it starts to take you into a negative interpretation, stop that process and start reinterpreting those experiences that you just consider negative in a more positive light.”

Dr. Mele, a licensed psychologist, brings nearly 25 years of clinical expertise and executive leadership to the behavioral health care field. His clinical proficiency includes the assessment and treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in adolescents and adults. MIX 100.5 plays the Desert’s Best MIX of music from the 90s, 80s and today. Music and radio personalities make MIX 100.5 a Coachella Valley favorite for music, entertainment and news.
