About Trauma Treatment

For patients who have been traumatized, we offer trauma-specific treatment as part of our mental health program. Trauma-specific treatment addresses the consequences of trauma, facilitates healing, fosters resilience, and helps prevent further traumatization.

Trauma-informed care

Sovereign Health uses a trauma-informed approach to the care of all of our patients at all of our locations. This means that we do the following, according to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration guidelines:

  1. We realize the widespread impact of trauma and understand the paths to recovery.
  2. We recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families and others.
  3. We respond by fully integrating our knowledge about trauma into all of our policies, procedures, and practices.
  4. We seek to actively resist re-traumatization of our patients.

In addition, our mental health and dual diagnosis programs do treat patients with post-traumatic stress disorder. Our trauma-informed approach to care provides our patients the safety, support, collaboration and empowerment they need to be able to recover from trauma and all of its consequences.
